The Emerging Leaders Retreat is a guided, self-reflective experience for high-potential individuals to identify their natural talents and hone their authentic leadership style for the betterment of their team and organization.


Candidate Selection:
To ensure maximum engagement, the retreat will be limited to 24 participants. Each LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire member may name one candidate to the program (until the roster is full).

It is far more important for a candidate to demonstrate leadership potential within their organization than it is for them to carry a specific job title.

Candidates should currently manage people and demonstrate a sincere interest in self-discovery, advanced responsibility, and growth in the field of aging services.

We strive for a diverse cohort of candidates with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including but not limited to age, gender, race, and ethnic diversity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify your dominant leadership personality
  • Document your personal Mission, Vision and Values
  • Develop your personal leadership plan
  • Make a promise to yourself to continue your personal and professional development

Program Length:
12 hours of on-site instruction during the conference, plus an another 2-hour Zoom session in May (date TBD).

On-Site Schedule (inclusive of select conference sessions):

Monday, April 3rd
3:00pm-8:00pm Introductions, expectation setting, dinner and networking 
Tuesday, April 4th
9:30am-10:45am Keynote presented by facilitator Julie Thorson
11:00am-5:00pm Emerging Leader Retreat (lunch included)
Wednesday, April 5th
8:00am-12:30pm Annual Conference: Workforce Wednesday Workshop
1:00pm-3:00pm Emerging Leader Retreat Continued (lunch included)


IMPORTANT! The candidate’s manager must agree to the following at the time of registration:

  • The candidate’s full attendance and undivided attention at the retreat as well as the May Zoom session (date TBD)
  • Cover all incidental travel, outside meals or overnight accommodation expenses. 
  • Make payment in full by March 31st

$799 - includes tuition and conference registration
